PAYMENT REFORM IS COMING

APA IS HERE TO HELP.

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) changes the way psychiatrists and other physicians working with Medicare patients will be paid. Some reporting requirements begin as early as January 1, 2017.

WHAT IS THE GOAL?

To reimburse care based on quality and value rather than the number of services you provide.

WHAT IF I DON’T COMPLY?

Refusing to comply could result in automatic penalties and missing out on possible incentives.

HOW CAN I GET READY TO COMPLY?

You’ll need to select a payment path. Rather than continuing a fee-for-service model of reimbursement, MACRA introduces two new payment paths - MIPS and APMs:

On June 29, APA hosted a live webinar on payment reform and quality reporting under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The webinar provides psychiatrists with a basic understanding of the key features of MACRA and how they may impact their practices. For more information and to download the slides, go here.

Individuals can view and claim credit for participating in an accredited version of this webinar by visiting the apa learning center. APA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The APA designates this activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
