Hurricane Irma is rapidly approaching the coast of Florida
F. Kevin Butler MD, MPH
Chairperson, FPS Disaster Preparedness Committee
Hurricane Irma is rapidly approaching the coast of Florida with possible
landfall later this week. Many in the Tampa Bay area appear to have been
sensitized by the effects of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. Locally, grocery
stores have already run out water and stores like Lowe's and Home Depot have
long lines. It's hard to decipher whether this is a prudent response or an
overreaction. (Perceived risk vs. actual risk.) Only time and more information
on the hurricane will answer the question. CLICK HERE to open instructions for the SAMHSA
Behavioral Health Disaster Response App. I hope you find it helpful and
informative. Keep dry and keep safe.
