The course will:
· Review the history, contributing factors, and the scope of the opioid epidemic.
· Explain the Florida state law requirements for controlled substance prescribing.
· Address the treatment of opioid use disorders alone or in conjunction with another co-morbid mental disorder.
Presenters:
Scott A. Teitelbaum, MD and William M. Greene, MD

Scott Teitelbaum, MD, is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, where he serves as vice chair of the department of psychiatry, chief of the division of addiction medicine, medical director of the UF Health Florida Recovery Center, Pottash Professor in Psychiatry and Neuroscience, fellowship director of UF’s American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) fellowship and a member of the McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida. And is currently the President of the Florida Society of Addiction Medicine
A national expert who has been consulted by the White House Office of National Drug Control and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Dr. Teitelbaum is passionate about reducing stigma and advancing treatment for those suffering from the disease of addiction.
William M. Greene, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Addiction Medicine and Associate Program Director for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship. He currently serves as Attending Physician of the 20 bed drug and alcohol detoxification unit at Shands at Vista. Dr. Greene is board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and also certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
The Florida Psychiatric Society is accredited by the Florida Medical Association to provide
Continuing Medical Education for physicians. The Florida Psychiatric Society designates
