A message from Dr. Howard: Help physicians heal their communities

Hello everyone. This week’s letter brings sadness but also hope. Hurricane Michael’s devastating effects on our Panhandle are still being assessed. Tens of thousands of Floridians remain without power and basic necessities. Many have lost their homes and places of employment. Entire towns are destroyed. Hospitals have been damaged to the point of full evacuation, and physicians are trying to help people under war zone-like conditions. We are getting more information daily.

The FMA will provide assistance to as many affected physicians we can through our Foundation for Healthy Floridians Medical Disaster Relief Fund. However, we need your help.

Please donate directly to the Medical Disaster Relief Fund today so that we can help those in need. The Foundation for Healthy Floridians is the FMA’s 501(c)(3) charitable entity. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.

Soon, the FMA will begin accepting grant applications from physicians in the hardest-hit areas. Just imagine: If every one of our 25,000 members made a financial contribution to support this effort, we could make great strides toward helping physicians in the Panhandle practice medicine so that healing can begin in their communities.

Let’s come together now and show the power of truly working together for the common good. We pray for all of those who have suffered. Please donate today. Thank you.
